Ferry to Falmouth

Takes about 20 minutes and goes about every hour from the harbour, more in the summer. Click here for the ferry site. Takes you right into the centre of Falmouth where you can connect to other boats. See the Ferry Network below.

Ferry to Place

Place is a little creek across the water from St. Mawes. You can see it from the house. Great for  a walk around to St Anthony’s head and other places. The ferry only runs in the summer. Click here for details. Their web page is a bit out of date but essentially they run regularly from the harbour and it’s only 10 minutes across.

King Harry Ferry

You can use the King Harry Car Ferry and enjoy a tranquil interlude whilst taking a scenic journey from the Roseland to the Cathedral City of Truro, or to the town and beaches of Falmouth. Reduces your journey to and from the Roseland by up to 25-30 miles on a round trip. Article in the Independent described it  as one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world.

Parking

St Mawes is a lovely quiet village with very little traffic, mainly because you don't pass through St Mawes to go anywhere else.  In the winter you can park on single yellow lines more or less outside the house along the front. In the summer everybody has to park in the main car park (400yds) a weeks ticket is about £13. You can also park on the harbour which is nearer but costs a bit more.  Consequently the village isn't clogged up with cars all year round, which is great when you compare it to similar villages (no names) in Cornwall.
