The Victory inn

They have a regular menu and 2 specials boards. Good food not too expensive. Proper chef. Decent wine list features a lot of New World wines. Friday night is Fish and Chip night.  Also pasties, sausage and mash, lamb shanks, mussels and chips and a fair bit more.  Recently opened the upstairs restaurant, same good food– just more of a restaurant feel.

The Rising Sun

The bar has a lunch menu which feature sandwiches soups and salads amongst other things. Larger evening menu and 2 specials boards in the evening. Friday night is fish and chip night. Good wines by the glass. Next door to the bar is the restaurant with a different, more up market menu.  Lovely room.

The Tresanton Hotel

Interesting story about the Tresanton– link to the full story here, but in short; used to belong to journalist William Shawcross’ godfather and William is now married to Olga Polizzi who is sister and designer to Rocco Forte the Hotel chap.  Olga bought the place which had got a bit run down and made it a very stylish and very expensive hotel.   Best restaurant for miles with prices to match. Lunch is better value for money- 2 course for £20, 3 for £26.  Great views.

Delicatessen

Right on the harbour. Very stylish deli right in the heart of St. Mawes. Great coffee wines by the glass and a short but sound menu. Good for breakfasts croissant pastries etc. Sit and watch the boats in the harbour.

The Idle Rocks

Similar cost to the Tresanston. Different, bit more formal but very friendly. Great views. The seating has been arranged so that every table has a view of the water, which is very close. Has a Bistro too, which is really the bar.
