The Quay Café, Flushing

The Stick Prawn is no more. Looks like it’s now a place called the Quay café. Apparently aiming at the same market (fish) but a bit cheaper. Will report back when we’ve been. You can drive there or get the very short hop ferry from Falmouth.  The St Mawes ferry usually gets into Falmouth just before the Flushing ferry goes. Makes a great trip out. There’s a nice pub in Flushing just down the road. You could go for a wander round Flushing before lunch.

The Roseland Inn, Philleigh

On the way to/from the King Harry Ferry. Great place for lunch. Proper country pub but good menu and wine list too. You can have a sandwich of a salad or something more substantial. Now owned by the lovely people who own the Victory in St Mawes and they improved that no end. Again will report back once we’ve been.

The Quarterdeck brasserie at the Nare’s Head Hotel

Right on the coast on a beautiful Carne beach out past Veryan. Great for a Sunday morning stroll before a lovely lazy lunch. The Nare’s Head does have a more formal restaurant too but I like this one. Lots of things on the menu that you want to eat if you know what I mean. Fair amount of fish included. The crab cakes and the mussels are both great.

The Pandora Inn, Restronguet Creek

Beautiful waterside setting on Restronguet Creek. Arriving by water is tops, it has it’s own pontoon jetty. Why not get the water taxi? You can drive there through Truro and out on the A39 . Superior pub food. Owned by the St Austell brewery who don’t do a bad job as breweries go.

The Ferryboat Inn, Helford Passage

Fantastic location on the water. Another St Austel Brewery pub. Right on a little beach. You can get a ferry from Helford village too.
