St Anthony Head

At the southernmost tip of the Roseland peninsula, St Anthony Head overlooks the spectacular entrance to one of the world’s largest natural harbours – Carrick Roads and the Fal estuary. The starting point for a number of excellent coastal and sheltered creekside walks, the Head also bears newly revealed remains of a century of defensive fortifications. Link

Smugglers Cottage Tolverne

In WW2 Tolverne with its deep water facilities, was chosen as a place where allied forces could load troops, guns, tanks and other equipment in preparation for the D Day landings. There is a collection of maritime paintings, prints and other memorabilia. Does morning coffee and lunch too.  The ‘Cornish Belle’ runs from here to Falmouth 3 times a day in summer, complete with commentary. Not open in Winter. Link

Royal Cornwall Museum Truro

Features a display of local material from prehistoric times to the present day. In the Rashleigh gallery the visitor can examine minerals from all over the world and one of the best collections of Cornish minerals in the country, including the largest known crystal of Liroconite in the world. The Bonythan gallery houses a seal cave, displays of birds and animals in their natural habitats and a cliff face of diving birds which, together, illustrate the diversity of Cornwall’s wildlife.
